Did Scott Cam operate drone camera on The Block?

CASA to investigate whether any aviation laws were breached in the operation of a camera drone.

blfThe Block executive producer Julian Cress has denied suggestions host Scott Cam was operating a drone to film aerial shots for Sunday’s finale.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority will investigate High Alpha Media, the company contracted to film aerial shots, to see if any safety regulations have been breached given Scott Cam is not licensed to operate a drone camera.

High Alpha Media director, Ben Lodge, told News Corp Australia, “There’s nothing wrong with the shot. Scott Cam obviously wasn’t flying it. And obviously if Scott Cam was to fly it he requires a licence and the appropriate approvals.”

Julian Cress confirmed Cam didn’t have a licence but said on email “but you don’t need a licence to hold the remote while somebody else flies it!”

The Gold Logie winner even managed to turn wedding celebrant for the big day.

News Corp reports CASA inspectors attended episodes of The Block Glasshouse when the camera drone was being operated.
