A bit of an update on the new dating / food series in development by The Block producers for Nine…
The casting call earlier this month asked: “Do you have a love of food? Do you live in Melbourne? Are you single and looking for love?”
Producers remain tight-lipped on their new format which is easily summed up in a few words, but have secured a high-profile international host. TV Tonight understands they are expected to shoot a pilot following work on the upcoming season of The Block at the former Hotel Saville in South Yarra. Potential applicants can apply here.
Meanwhile in unrelated news there are stories today speculating about a potential locations on the Mornington Peninsula for either The Block or House Rules.

How many more dating shows can one take in succession? Have had my fill of these reality shows, think free to air TV is going to the dogs real quick.
I know what show is filming in Mornington Peninsula. 🙂
what show is that
please not Mel B again
is that you the real Andrew Mercado?
Andrew contributes to discussions here from time to time, yes.
A local version of the UK series First Dates could be fun. I like that show.
This sounds like Dinner Date from the UK, which I don’t mind. Not sure how an Australian version would go if produced by the same team as the block. Can we expect people that can’t cook, but can complain a lot? Lot’s of recaps of each dinner and all the contestants using the same product placed cooking utensils, pans, pots etc? Can’t say I’m looking forward to this.
TEN had Come Date with Me but I’m assured this differs. Not clear if the dating outweighs the food, or vice versa….
I didn’t see that one. There certainly are plenty of ways to spin a dating show it seems…
