TV Honour Roll: who missed out?

Everyone loves a list. But there are some big names absent from this Who's Who of TV stars.

Everyone loves a list, but it’s never easy knowing where to draw the line.

Yesterday News Corp ran an Honour Roll of TV Royalty, with a mix of performers -both past and present- who have graced our screens.

Listed by alphabetical surname they are:

Kerry Armstrong
Lorraine Bayly
Ernie Carroll & Ossie Ostrich
Michael Caton
Vince Colosimo
Andrew Denton
Rebecca Gibney
Noni Hazlehurst
Paul Hogan
John Howard
Lachy Hulme
Aaron Jeffrey
Claudia Karvan
Kerri-Anne Kennerley
David Koch
Bruce McAvaney
Lisa McCune
Garry McDonald
Andrew McFarlane
Eddie McGuire
Craig McLachlan
Rove McManus
Deborah Mailman
Ray Martin
Molly Meldrum
Dannii Minogue
Bert Newton
Kerry O’Brien
Georgie Parker
Peter Phelps
Kate Ritchie
Ian Smith
Daryl Somers
Karl Stefanovic
Kat Stewart
Magda Szubanski
Erik Thomson
Sigrid Thornton
Steve Vizard
Mike Walsh
Jana Wendt
Mike Willesee
John Wood
Working Dog
Johnny Young

So who missed out? There are multiple Gold Logie winners absent.

Public broadcasters have not fared particularly well, especially SBS, and all of them had careers forged on Free to Air rather than Subscription.

Working Dog’s entire team is there as a single entry, lucky them. The list seems to stick to performers rather than writers or producers, and there are no news presenters (Bruce McAvaney makes the cut as a sports presenter).

Last year TV Tonight asked our critics to nominate our National Living TV Treasures and it wasn’t easy for them to limit their choices, either.

I can think of several glaring omissions who really should have overridden some choices.

But over to you. Who else should be on the list?

  1. My first reaction was ‘Where’s Asher Keddie”? Well they have Kat Stewart and she never won a gold logie or even been nominated for one?

But when I saw the list I started asking where’s Denise Drysdale? Where’s Charlene aka Kylie Minogue? – both Gold Logie winners.

Jeannie Little might be ill at the moment – but she could still have been named on the list.

How about Rowena Wallace? Or Val Lehman? Two women who made their tv characters ‘legends’ of tv.

Noelene Brown is also a sad omission.

I think whoever compiled the list should be forced to brush up on their Australian tv history.

Kate Richie – but no Ray Meagher???

    Seriously?
