Surfing champ Layne Beachley will narrate Seven’s upcoming observational series, Beach Cops.

The series, which follows the police who operate along Sydney’s Northern Beaches, premieres in October.

“Having grown up in the area, I have seen all there is to see,” she says. “But Beach Cops has given me a healthy perspective on just how hard the police work to keep the community safe”.

From driving offences to missing persons to drugs, see how the officers respond to the dangerous, tragic and often funny situations that are part of their everyday lives through Summer, when this stunning stretch of coastline, from Manly to Palm Beach, swells by seven million visitors.

Beach Cops is produced in-house by Seven with Lyndal Marks as Executive Producer.

  1. The idea of a Garbos made me laugh histerically. One of the best comments posted on this site. These cop shows seem to edit out the police misconduct rife in the NSW police. This show is just another BS PR exercise by the police.

      1. Well, at least ‘Gold Coast Garbos’ would’ve been cleaner than the ‘Gold Coast Cops’…

But it’s nice to see that the commercial networks are playing together nicely & not stepping on each other’s toes, geographically at least. Ten’s claimed Bondi to the south, Nine has its traditional claim to the city & harbour, and Seven’s now extending its claim to the northern beaches. Although Ten must be pushing their luck with Dr. Chris’s regular crosses to SASH & the reptile park…

  2. It looks like TEN has axed Bondi Rescue so this will have to take over. Let’s hope this show will not do what Bondi Rescue did – strip all the glamour and sexiness from the beaches and make it look as ugly as possible. Bondi Beach is home to the beautiful people yet you never saw them on Bondi Rescue.

      1. I thought it had been axed as TEN has pulled it from the schedule twice this year still with episodes unscreened. With that lack of enthusiasm towards it I thought TEN had taken the next step and axed it altogether.

          1. No scene at the end of the shutters coming down and the lifeguard riding off on his bike. But then again they do that every year…
