Gruen is back.
After a 2 year absence viewers voted in droves for the show’s return. At 974,000 viewers it was the top-rated entertainment show outside of News programmes on Wednesday, including trending on social media. The show delivered plenty of laughs and disagreement between ad gurus Russel Howcroft and Todd Sampson.
The show also helped Utopia to its best figures so far this season, also winning its timeslot.
Last night viewers gave ABC and TEN their stamp of approval in 7:30 and 8:30 slots, with The Bachelor winning its timeslot at 920,000 viewers. It also topped the demos for TEN.
Elsewhere last night Seven News had a win over Nine News -it’s been a while since that’s happened on a weeknight.
Seven network won the night with 27.3% then Nine 24.8%, ABC 20.8%, TEN 20.7% and SBS 6.3%.

I like Bosch…but struggling with it last few episodes…the ‘serial’ killer thing is a bit OTT…
There was alot of swearing in Wed’s episode. It’s still one of the better dramas on tv I think wed’s ep was one of the weaker eps.
The Mysteries of Laura …I wanted to watch…but Nine messed it up for me
If they repeat …on one of their channels…one episode…regular time…I will watch….
‘Bosch’ deserves better numbers but it’s starting to stray into ‘The Wire’ territory of city hall politics.
Watched the block last night, for the fist time in years – wasn’t as bad from what I’ve seen this season. Life story was a cracker – I love them animals doing their thing 🙂 always astounds me learning new things about animals and ya know you’re in for a treat when ya hear David’s voice!
A cracker episode of Utopia last night.
Loved the Q&A references.
This series better than Season 1.
Agreed. Yes they might use the same jokes occasionally, but they’re still funny each time. Funny because it’s sadly so true.
How did the Late Show go?
I only watched half of it
39,000.
Low ratings for Attenborough’s Life Story. It had great footage but an intrusive score out of an old silent melodrama and a poor script.
To be honest I didn’t watch because it wasn’t HD. I don’t care about news/reality on SD but documentaries and sport are so much better in HD. If it gets repeated on GEM I’ll watch it.
Don’t mind the Block being on in the background while I’m doing something but certainly can’t sit there and watch it with full attention. Had it on late last night while working on computer – last season I didn’t watch at all – this one is ok so far…
David how do you think Please Like Me will go with a Friday night 10pm timeslot? Punishment for the Optus Ads?
It’s Thursday, October 15 at 9.30 pm.
Oh yes. That was the U.S time. Well 9.30 on a Thursday. It’s practically comedy primetime.
Seriously Catastrophe is a great show and deserves much better ratings. Odd they didn’t put it on a Wednesday instead of a British panel show. Or even after Media circus at 9.
I’m pretty impressed with these ratings. Hopefully this keeps up, reading stories everyday about seven and nine dominating was getting boring. Well done ABC and Ten!
It’s great to see the Block struggling. Hopefully Nine will get the message that the Block’s days are numbered.
Not sure ‘struggling’ is the right word, it actually launched quite well given reno fatigue. We will need to see how it fares against X Factor, usually each season takes a while to settle.
