In yesterday’s Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook, in addition to the $52.5 million in cuts was an allocation of $4.1 million to SBS.

The money will “replace revenue that could not be raised” after legislation was knocked back to allow for more advertising in primetime.

However SBS managing director Michael Ebeid has previously said the broadcaster faced a $28.5 million hole in its budget over four years due to previous funding cuts.

SBS has since launched Food Network with US Scripps programming to help address revenue shortfall.

  1. Sbs have really interesting shows, especially the locally made ones. I just wish catch up didnt kick them off after a few weeks. I would happily drop $10 a month for access to their content in the way Stan and Netflix work.
