  1. Can’t see poor man’s Spicks and Specks holding those numbers. What an abomination.

A decent result for Survivor considering the terrible lead in shows’ numbers. Once the football codes wind up for the year, Sundays could become more competitive

  2. Big numbers for music quiz! Shame Survivor is slipping, I wonder if moving it to another night would boost it’s chances, say Wednesday and Thursday or something? Sunday is so dominated by Nine and Seven

  3. bettestreep2008

Survivor has never rated well in Australia. That is why the American version is on GO!. Having said that, I watched the first episode last night (recorded) and was very impressed with it. It is almost the same as the US version in terms of technical production. The problem with the show is that – like all Australian reality shows – it is badly edited. The American version is a tightly edited 42 minutes with 18 minutes of ads. The Australian version is 90 minutes with ads. Way way way too long. And finally the other reason it isn’t rating a million or more – it starts half an hour after the Block and Rockwiz and Specks. And what do Ten have on at 7pm? The umpteenth repeat of Modern Family.

I don’t think it will be a complete flop. Its still rating well in the demos and should do OK on Tuesday when its only competition is the goddawful Zumbo.

And I agree with earlier posts. The…

    • This is definitely absolutely not an editors decision nor is it their job to decide how long the program runs. Editors are given a time frame to work with from the senior producers who are negotiating program running time with the network. Cheers

  4. I feel sorry for Ten. But I do think that a show like Survivor (or Amazing Race) is quite a niche show and has never really rated big in Australia compared to other genre such as cooking, renovation and singing.

Also surprised that Music Quiz did well for Seven. But could it be another case of typical Seven new show – started off big and then evaporate to the ether?

Interesting that Melbourne has always played a big part in the ratings of shows such as Block and even Masterchef.
