Criminal Minds casts new BAU member

More cast announcements for Criminal Minds following the sudden exit by Thomas Gibson.

Criminal Minds has cast its next member of its Behavioural Analysis Unit, announcing Damon Gupton (Empire, Bates Motel) will join the series in S12E8.

He will play Special Agent Stephen Walker from the Behavioural Analysis Program, the counterintelligence division of the FBI. He is described as a seasoned profiler who will bring his spy-hunting skill set to the BAU, according to Deadline.

“Our BAU family is growing,” said Erica Messer, executive producer / showrunner. “We’re excited to have Damon join the show and work alongside our amazing cast and crew.”

Following the sudden exit by Thomas Gibson, it was announced that Paget Brewster would return as a regular. The show also promoted Aisha Tyler, who plays Dr. Tara Lewis, to series regular and added new cast member Adam Rodriguez as FBI Agent Luke Alvez.

The new head of the unit will be revealed on the show and is expected to come within.

Seven is yet to announce a return date for the series, which returned in the US last week.
