Battlestar Galactica reunion

"We tried to stay true to the premise of what it was," Ronald D.Moore tells diehard fans.

Cast members from Battlestar Galactica (2003 – 2009) Katee Sackhoff. Tricia Helfer, Mary McDonnell, Michael Trucco, Tahmoh Penikett and Grace Park reunited with executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick at San Diego Comic Con this week.

“I wish I could be there in person but I’m Spain,” James Olmos, said in a video greeting. “You are with the best of the best.

“All the actors on the stage are my family,” Olmos told the thousands in the venue to applause.

“Thank you to you the fan base, you’ve always been there for us.”

“The original Battlestar had this very dark idea at its core: the holocaust of the human race. The heroes of the show were the survivors who ran off into the night and were pursued by their enemies. If you took that premise seriously … you would have a unique piece of TV,” said Moore, about how the show was crafted in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. “We tried to stay true to the premise of what it was.”

The session included a tribute to the late Richard Hatch.

After issuing words of love and support for his late colleague, Olmos encouraged the crowd to make their appreciation of Hatch known with three rousing rounds of four familiar words: “So say we all!”

  1. Battlestar Galactica was originally criticised for being an unapologetic rip-off of Star Wars including the design of its spacecraft but the recent updated version certainly found its own niche and creative style which has been followed to some degree by shows like The Expanse with their story and production values.I believe there is still is a place for another series or spin-off for Galactica, the actors are still young enough to play a role, maybe Netflix could be its saviour as it tries to be with the Star Trek franchise.
