  1. I have always enjoyed the show, but while watching it last night during the judging it suddenly hit me how contrived (if that is the right word) the judging really is as they are not judging the rooms blindly as in they should not know which teams have done which rooms etc, and just judged them on merit rather than what ratings they can get out of it?

I don’t know perhaps I’m just a bit slow on the uptake or something!

    1. The sucess of a lot of these reality shows is dependent on casting. While 7 think that HR raitings are decent enough for renewal, it is possible (alghough not likely) that they cannot find 6 teams with the personality to be intresting on the show who also have a dump of a house to be renovated.

  2. Just wish the show would get back to focusing on the renovations rather than manufactured arguments. They spent the first 15 minutes of a show a couple of weeks focusing on the losers not sleeping in a tent.

They also need to tighten up the judging – it is so tedious playing out across 2 shows when it used to cover little more than half an hour of the last show.

  3. The Weekly (ABC TV) a few weeks ago did a parody of House Rules called Bogan Rules (or something like that). Just by running a few excepts from House Rules, it’s amazing how this year’s season is so often a parody of itself without much help from others such as the ABC.

While I find LLB a refreshing addition to the judging team, and I quite like Wendy’s judging as well, I find little to appreciate in Drew’s comments which often seem to be ‘different’ just for the sake of being different. Plus three of the teams are just plain unlikeable, so let’s hope that next year’s teams are much easier to relate to or care about.

      1. Chiara and David, though to be fair they’re not as bad as the other two (obvious) teams. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn’t have lumped Chiara and David in with the other two teams.

On the positive, my favorites are, in no particular order: Toad and Mandy, Kim and Michelle, and Josh and Brandon.

  4. Must be ecstatic about regional ratings, where it regularly helps the show to win. But its metropolitan ratings haven’t been that strong this year, smashed by MasterChef on a nightly basis, even other shows. Am I the only one surprised by this early announcement?

    1. Oh, nearly forgot, what about the most important thing of all? The demographics! MasterChef blitzing, House Rules was nowhere to be seen and in recent weeks still nowhere near the top

      1. What is it with the demographics? There is so much overlap in ages that people can appear in all 3 reported ranges. Are there other tighter ranges which we don’t see? As someone once said, please explain.

    2. I was pretty much second this comment. It is down a decent bit from last year. If I was 7, I would have waited a few more weeks to see what happens and then make a decision for renewal.

  5. As someone who doesn’t watch the show can I ask why Seven focuses all it’s attention on the dreadful LLB. Does anyone even know the names of the other 2 judges you see in the endless ads?
