Seven reality show Zumbo’s Just Desserts may have been a fail on Australian television but an international screening through Netflix has led to a second season commission.
The Australian Financial Review reports Seven Studios has inked a co-production deal with Netflix for another season.
The 2016 series, which also featured Rachel Khoo Brazilian-born pastry chef Gigi Falanga, was on occasions fourth in its timeslot.
But Zumbo already appears on another Netflix series, Sugar Rush.
Seven has previously made Beat Bugs with Netflix, despite CEO Tim Worner complaining that Netflix, Facebook and Google were eating into the local advertising market. The show went on to score Emmy Award nominations.
Zumbo’s company has gone into voluntary administration.

If they tweak it a bit, Seven could make it a big hit.
Talk about failing upwards !
Will it even be shown on Seven main channel ? Probably Seven Two fodder me thinks.
Shouldn’t this be under streaming?
It’s a co-pro, so either is ok. Need to know where it is screening here first. Maybe Netflix has rest of the world.
Or under Pay – if you made it one word ??
Cracking news for him. I’d have thought to be the go too cake guy on Netflix shows will raise his flag globally.
This show was a lame duck and will again but l suppose he needs the money.
my thoughts exactly.
