Seven jobs will be lost at WIN News Tasmania when production of the local bulletin moves to Wollongong, according to reports.
The Mercury reports of the current seven journalist positions, only four will remain. Five camera operators will become four and three production staff will be made redundant.
The change to local production will also see the weekend news switching to TEN Eyewitness News on the weekend at 5pm.
Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance Tasmanian president Mark Thomas said “It was obvious that by losing 30 per cent of its bulletins WIN would have to cut effectively 30 per cent of its reporting staff,” he said. “If this is true, it is a further reduction and disregard for Tasmanian television and its viewing population.”
Last week WIN News Tasmania management told the told the ABC that no journalists or camera crew will lose their jobs.
A WIN TV spokesperson told TV Tonight management are “still in a consultation process with staff.”

What’s going to happen to the lovely Lucy Braeden?(the current host of the news)I hope she can continue on in some capacity at the station.
I Reckon Long Time Reporter Sophie Kuryl will go from the WIN Reporting Front, ABC News Maybe?
Southern Cross’ dominance there doesn’t help either.
