Next Tuesday Neighbours will screen a very special episode when Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey) loses her battle with ovarian cancer.
In a rare move, this will be a two-hander episode featuring Eve Morey and Ryan Moloney as Jarrod ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi.
Eve Morey said: “While we were filming this storyline, one of our family members was actually going through their own personal cancer battle, so it was something that was so important not only to me and my family, but for everyone watching that has gone through a similar journey. It was imperative to me that we portray this storyline in the most honest and authentic way, and I really think we succeeded.
“This whole storyline was by far the most meaningful story that I have had the privilege of being involved in during the course of my time on Neighbours and I am thankful that I finished up doing something so authentic and important, but also something that raises much needed awareness.”
During a very special and emotionally-charged two-hander episode, Sonya and Jarrod ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney) head off on a road-trip to meet their children at the beach house for a much needed weekend away.
Not wanting to worry Toadie and determined to enjoy the precious time she has left with her family, Sonya decides to keep the news to herself. But her health dramatically declines and she is convinced she only has hours to live.
Driven by the primal urge to see her children before it’s too late, Toadie honours his wife’s last wishes and races to get her to the beach.
In a moment of pure heartbreak, Sonya tells Toadie that heaven does exist.
6:30pm Tuesday on 10 Peach.

If only she went to Summer Bay Hospital. She would have been cured
Neighbours has a cycle. New family/families move to the street, said family gets torn apart either by an affair or “dark” secret from the past or one the parents dies. Then after some time one of the children leaves, followed by the other parent leaving the other child or children in the street to look after themselves, around this time another relative be it a cousin or grandparent, Aunt or Uncle moves to the street, Quite often from a town called Colac. Eventually the street is over run with children whose parents have left and so comes a “relaunch” with a new family or families moving in to the street and so begins the cycle again.
This cycle normally takes at least 5 years to complete.
You forgot the bit, just before one or more of the children leave another child, mentioned but not seen, that has been studying or working abroad or interstate turns up to to fill the gap of soon departing siblings. Piper was one of those. Also Shane and Dipi have a currently unseen son.
I’m already crying, don’t know how I’m going to handle this to be honest.
I had to take the next day off work when Bea died in Wentworth because I was a blubbering mess, might have to take a sickie again next week.
I hear it is pretty heavy.
It is really strange she is leaving this way. I felt she was going to be stuck on Neighbours forever like Karl and Susan Kennedy are.

Really, how much more can this poor couple endure? After everything with Andrea & her stupid mother put them through plus Toadie’s already lost one wife. Why are they doing this? This is a horrible story line.
Because Eve’s contract was cut and she suggested killing off Sonya as it was the only way to write out the character after everything that Toadie & Sonya had been through.
Sounds to me like Eve wanted more money and the producers said no. That’s usually the reason actors leave popular shows. Now will Eve be another Elaine Smith and never be heard of again or will she be another Margot Robbie who is an A-lister in Hollywood?
Oh I didn’t know that. I wondered if it was her choice to leave or if she was pushed. If that’s the case they should have had her die when she was poisoned. Having her recover & then get cancer is too much.
The only other option would be for her to leave Toadie and move away, or they both leave. With Ryan still wanting to be in the show and Eve wanting to leave, this made best sense, just like Daphne, Julie, Madge, Matt and various other husbands and wives.
It was reported yesterday that Eve didn’t want to leave and was axed. She was offered a directing role but turned that down but now is drama coach. I believe the same thing happened to Carla. Neighbours must be in trouble to axe two of its best in the past year, all down to budget cuts.
Eve said she wanted her killed off. She isn’t sure if she’ll keep acting but enjoying a break. Devasted but I wonder if it means they’ll find the real Dee. Andrea / Dee storyline will concluded this year their exec producer said earlier in the year.
