New variety show nabs a big name star as announcer for its very first episode.

A good get for the first episode of Chris & Julia’s Sunday Night Takeaway with none other than Shane Warne to step up to the crease as the first Celebrity Guest Announcer.

Hopefully he is better suited than hosting that short-lived chat show, Warnie, on Nine.

10’s show is expected to rotate studio announcers each week.

The network is also teasing “one celebrity is about to see what it’s like to be at the mercy of Chris and Julia’s mischievous ways, and a classic Aussie rock act” for the opening episode.

Things kick off from 7:30pm Sunday February 24 on 10.

  3. i’m so looking forward to live variety entertainment on aussie tv. people are crying out for it. i hope it rates well. at least 10 are trying new shows (even if they are copied formats) but they’re trying.
