Airdate: French Open 2019 (SBS)

SBS coverage from Roland-Garros begins on May 26.

SBS will broadcast the 2019 French Open tennis tournament, live from Stade Roland-Garros in Paris from May 26, plus daily highlights the following day.

Ken Shipp, SBS Director of Sport said: “We’ll be offering viewers extensive free-to-air coverage of the tournament. The iconic French Open clay courts of Roland Garros have shaped some of the most incredible moments in tennis, and we’re looking forward to seeing what this year’s tournament will bring.”

The only Grand Slam held on clay courts, the prestigous French Open is steeped-in-tradition and considered the most physically demanding on players due to clay making for a slower playing surface.

SBS will follow each day’s action from the rounds and into the semi finals and finals of the second international tennis Grand Slam of the year.

Roland Garros 2019: The French Open will be live, free and in HD on SBS, and streamed live on SBS On Demand and sbs.com.au/sport nightly from Sunday 26 May (full broadcast schedule below).

To ensure Australian audiences don’t miss out on all the action from the matches overnight, SBS will air an hour-long highlights show at 4.30pm AEST daily, from Monday, 27 May. Online, sbs.com.au/topics/sport will be the round-the-clock destination for all French Open news, interviews, analysis, extended highlights and clips.

Australian fans will also be keeping an eye on Aussies Nick Kyrgios and Ashleigh Barty to see how far they advance in the tournament.

The French Open tennis tournament is the first event in SBS’s huge winter schedule of premium international sport free-to-air for all Australians to enjoy, with the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ beginning June 8, and the 2019 Tour de France starting July 6 from 9.30pm AEST.
