  1. Having watch this experiment with the 4 year olds I think it’s fantastic. Last night the kids learnt about items from the older generation and I liked the frank discussion about the war. I liked the maze idea and how the young ones encourage and guided the oldies through.

I look at the residents where I work and I can see the difference between those who get involved in activities and those who don’t. We have had days where we have had kindergarten children come in and perform then talk to the residents after and the oldies love it. There eyes light up when young children are around.

  2. Never thought I’d say this, but I really enjoyed watching Collingwood up close and personal on the ABC last night. Was one of the best documentaries I’ve seen in years and I hope other teams follow suit in future. Was a great insight into what really goes on behind closed doors.

    1. i’ve never watched Seachange but seen alot of online comments from people saying they changed the show too much from the old episodes, even a few saying they ‘ruined’ the show, so maybe that explains it….

  3. The Oldies vs 4yo’s (as we call it in our place) is fantastic, but it is also tugging on the heartstrings. It certainly doesn’t make one want to enter aged care anytime soon, as the adults score highly on anxiety, loneliness and depression scales.

Our favourites are Eric and Aiden. Really hope that Aiden becomes a permanent part of Eric’s life, because he has brought Eric into a new life.

    1. I agree. I am really thinking about not watching it anymore though because the oldies are really upsetting me unfortunately. Children are wonderful but I nearly cry watching the oldies. I wonder what will happen to them when it is all over and the children don’t visit anymore??

    2. i’ve found watching it a bit of a double edged sword, its very touching to see the interactions between the oldies & children & how much its enhancing the oldies lives. I was really touched especially by the conversation between the old digger (forgot his name) & the boy about war, tears welling up!
But yeah, who really wants to get to the stage where they start to forget what they did yesterday & seeing some of them experiencing that is sad. To quote the Who, ‘hope i die before i get old!’……although Roger Daltrey may have changed his mind about that one 😉
