Peter Ford has revealed Seven reporter Matt Doran will join Weekend Sunrise from October 12.
Seven sources have confirmed the Sunday Night reporter will replace Basil Zempalis who wraps up his regular hosting this weekend.
Perth-based Zempalis will remain part of the Sunrise family, but wanted to pull back on travel commitments in his demanding schedule.
Doran will join with Monique Wright on the show, segueing from the now-axed Sunday Night.

Should’ve been Michael Usher. Mel Doyle could’ve hosted The Latest.
I really like Baz and will miss him ! Its a hard gig trying to get a word in over Monique !
Good choice. I like Matt.
Perfect timing. A convenient but still great choice!
Matt will be great
Ah Basil a legend in his own lunchtime no great loss, maybe he will stand for Parliament state or Federal for the Liberal he won’t be missed
Basil had the Karl Stefanovic-effect for me – I found the show unwatchable when he was on it. He was smug, irritating and not easy viewing. Just as Karl was.
Looking forward to Matt replacing him. This is a good move.
Never really liked him much but really warmed to him when he filled in over Christmas on Sunrise. Good choice.
That’s a good choice. He was my pick when Karl left Today & I even thought he should have been host of Ten’s failed breakfast show.
