Survivor ejects player for ‘inappropriate touching’

Survivor (US) has pulled a player from the game just a week short of its final, in what has been reported as ‘inappropriate touching.’

Hollywood agent Dan Spilo had already been given warning prior to his removal.

Host Jeff Probst told players that Spilo would no longer be participating in the game.

“Ok, so I just spoke privately with Dan and I want to update you guys,” he said. “A decision has been made and Dan will not be returning to the game. He won’t be coming back to camp. He won’t be on the jury. He’s gone.”

A title card followed the conclusion of the episode, which read, “Dan was removed from the game after a report of another incident, which happened off-camera and did not involve a player.” CBS declined to comment beyond the title card’s statement.

Throughout the current season various female contestants expressed discomfort with Spilo’s inability to respect their space, numerous occurrences of which were captured on-camera. Contestant Kellee Kim asked Spilo to his face if he could better respect her wishes that he maintain a better distance.

Spilo later apologised if anyone misinterpreted his physical conduct.

  1. No live reunion show this season because of this. The reunion show will be pre-recorded and shown on delay after the live reading of the votes. Rumours are going around saying Dan has launched legal action against CBS. I think people need to take a step back and think, why has he gone quiet all of a sudden if that wasn’t true. CBS was careful with the wording they used at the end of that episode and Jeff has not gone into any further details about the incident.

  2. He was creepy as that bloke, could not understand why he was not taken off the first time around and even less understanding why the girls did not vote him out when they had the chance.

    • One reason was that a couple of the girls saw their opportunity to use the incident as part of their gameplay. They weren’t concerned about his behaviour, just that it made it impossible for him to win, and therefore the perfect person to take to the end.

  3. I’ve been astonished as to why the issue seemed to have taken a backseat in the last few episodes but now we know why (kinda) as they knew this was coming. I think there’s going to be some robust discussion at the ruination show next week.

I wondered what was going on when they didn’t go to the preview for next weeks show & the confessional of the eliminated contestant but went back to the beach. Then Probst turned up in a boat. I wondered for a minute if it was a double episode. I had been out so wasn’t watching it live. So if it wasn’t a player maybe a crew member.
