5 hours of The Chase, Seven News.

Just two TV brands will pad out Seven's new-look afternoons.

From this afternoon Seven viewers will be stuck with no less than 5 hours of The Chase and Seven News.

The demise of The Daily Edition as a cost-cutting measure has seen Seven replace the show with another repeat of The Chase UK.

The schedule now looks like this:

2pm The Chase UK
3pm The Chase UK
4pm Seven News
5pm The Chase
6pm Seven News

Viewers may well be reaching a tipping point…

By comparison there are eight different titles across the same time on 10 and four on Nine.

Surely audiences deserve more diverse programming than this? No wonder Kids’ TV doesn’t get a look in anywhere…

  2. They could ask Channel 31for some ideas. Or maybe they could help them stay on free to air. Streaming is big but not quite ready for everyone just yet. Some of us older citizens are hesitant to stream, I know I was, and now I rarely watch free to air TV, except for ABC TV and SBS with a little bit of Ten network. I still watch Neighbours and local news. Channel Seven never and I like Gems older movies.

  3. So we got The Chase at 2, Million Dollar Minute at 2:30, The Chase, Tipping Point or Million Dollar Minute at 3, Hot Seat at 4, Hard Quiz at 4:40, The Chase at 5, Letters & Numbers at 5:30 then Mastermind at 6.
    Game show overload!

  4. It seems that 7Two has dropped the 1pm repeat of The Chase and replaced it with repeats of My Greek Odyssey. Phew, for a moment there I thought there might be four hours of Chase across the channels.

  6. A very poor effort indeed. If the networks are no longer willing or able to provide any kind of reasonable programming then they may need to consider handing their licenses over to the many cashed-up entities out there who would be delighted to provide a full schedule.

  7. “Viewers may well be reaching a tipping point…” David, shouldn’t this read switching over to The Tipping Point, which is on 9 at the same time as The Chase UK.

        Having said that, Challenge TV in the UK repeats The Chase endlessly.

  10. This is just woeful…clearly lazy programming by 7 and given they have won ratings three weeks in a row they aren’t concerned.

    I recall at 4pm there was always children’s TV after school but that was a long time ago 😋

  11. Why don’t they give us an encore of Big Brother? 9 & 10 have encores of their reality shows the next day. Some people watch all 3 & you can only watch one at a time.
