Michelle Williams, Oscar Isaac for new HBO miniseries

Adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s 'Scenes From a Marriage' to be helmed by The Affair's Hagai Levi.

Michelle Williams, who was so captivating in Fosse / Verdon, has signed for a new HBO miniseries with Oscar Isaac (Show Me a Hero).

The series is an adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s Scenes From a Marriage, which aired on Swedish television in 1973, consisting of six episodes.

Bergman directed the original with Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson in the lead roles.

Variety reports the new version is said to re-examine the show’s depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple.

Hagai Levi (The Affair, Our Boys) will write, direct, and executive produce, with Williams and Isaac also as executive producers.

Dates are yet to be announced.
