Veteran US performer Armelia McQueen, best known for Hart of Dixie, Ghost & Ain’t Misbehavin’, has died aged 68.
“You are truly an angel now. My dear friend Armelia crossed over yesterday,” friend Dorian Hannaway wrote in a Facebook post. “She leaves us cherishing her memory as she was one of the greatest friends you could ever have. The only thing bigger than her beautiful soul was her extraordinary talent.”
McQueen was part of the original cast for Broadway sensation, Ain’t Misbehavin’ in 1978 alongside Nell Carter & Irene Cara.
But she also appeared in numerous films and television shows. Her most notable role was the character of Clara Brown in 1990’s Ghost, while other films included Action Jackson, The Hustle, Bulworth, Waiting Game and Life.
She had a recurring roles as Shula Whitaker on Hart of Dixie and the Red Queen in Adventures in Wonderland. Other credits included That’s So Raven, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Santa Barbara, LA Law, JAG, Inconceivable, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Artbound.
