Netflix commissions new UK titles

New dramas include one co-written by Aussie writer Sarah Dollard plus a new Rowan Atkinson series.

Netflix this week commissioned new titles in the UK, including one co-written by Aussie writer Sarah Dollard (Bridgerton, Doctor Who, Being Human, Neighbours).

Rowan Atkinson will also feature in a new comedy, Man vs Bee.

The seven new commissions include:

Baby Reindeer (8 x 30)
Writer/Lead Actor: Richard Gadd (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2016, he has written episodes for Sex Education)
Production Company: Clerkenwell Films
Synopsis: Based on a compelling true story, the hit 2019 Edinburgh Fringe one-man stage-play Baby Reindeer follows the writer and performer Richard Gadd’s warped relationship with his female stalker and the impact it has on him as he is ultimately forced to face a deep, dark buried trauma.

Cuckoo Song w/t (6 x 60)

But as tensions escalate, the old boundaries between “good” and “bad” fray and Nathan will discover what sort of person he truly is. This is an angsty, roller-coaster ride of a young adult show about a troubled kid who has the indomitable will to survive and defy the odds. The series is based on the Half Bad trilogy of books written by Sally Green.

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (7 x 60)

  1. My pick from this list is Half Bad which has Andy Serkis as one of the producers, second is Lockwood & Co.
    Both titles have supernatural themes, but I do find these type of shows entertaining when they are well made, which hopefully these two series will be when the are released in a year or so.

    1. Yes, Man vs Bee is definitely another Mr Bean episode by the looks of it, if so it would be sad for Rowan as it’s what America expects of him as a comic actor.
