Daryl, Sonia, original judges return to Dancing with the Stars

Seven dials up the nostalgia with its original hosts & judges 17 years later.

Seven got the band back together…

As tipped, Daryl Somers and Sonia Kruger are officially returning to Dancing With The Stars: All Stars.

Original judges Helen Richey, Todd McKenney, Paul Mercurio and Mark Wilson have also been confirmed by Seven, in a retro throwback to Season 1 in 2004.

Filming for the new series commenced last night in Sydney.

Taking to the dance floor are Ada Nicodemou, Bec Hewitt, Erin McNaught, Fifi Box, Jamie Durie, Kyly Clarke, Luke Jacobz, Lincoln Lewis, Manu Feildel and Tom Williams alongside wildcard entrants Jessica Gomes, Matty Johnson, Renee Bargh and Schapelle Corby.

Seven also released a clever promo in which former stars reprised classic routines, juxtaposing old vs. new.

Set to screen across just two weeks post Easter, the series sees voting from judges and a studio audience combine to eliminate an act every night.

Dancing With The Stars: All Stars is produced by Warner Bros. Australia.

  1. This is a great line up – I’m looking forward to it! But, not Schapelle Corby – I don’t know why they insist on making celebrities out of convicted criminals!

  2. Very disappointed that yet another tv show has decided to cast convicted criminal Schapelle Corby. I use to always watch this show but I wont be watching this season.

  3. Love that the original judges are back together especially Helen and Todd.

Still wish they just left it as former winners and contestants and not have wildcards. I have a feeling Todd will be gunning for Schapelle.

  4. It’ll be interesting to see if Erin McNaught is still voted off first without the public vote, which I always felt was never helpful to the models who most of the time could actually dance.

  5. Not a bad lineup, however the two names I won’t watch – Daryl and Sonia.
Cannot stand Daryl because he made blunders and couldn’t stop talking. And Sonia – appeared on Holey Moley, now DWTS. She’ll appear on The Voice, BB, and the Tokyo Games.

  6. I hope this works, although the live element was what was great about the original series. Having said that, pre-recording the show means they can edit Daryl’s blunders out. Love that all four judges are returning, including Mark Wilson, who just disappeared one year!

  7. Once again another format not designed to be stripped. Nostalgia will give this a big sugar hit the first night then I’d imagine fatigue will set in very quickly having this on four nights a week, second week this tent pole will be laying on the ground.

The thing is this All Stars season could work, weekly on a Sunday night over six or eight weeks
