Nine delays The Weakest Link premiere

Rebooted game show is rescheduled to a start in late May.

Nine has made an unexpected change to the premiere date for The Weakest Link.

The show hosted by Magda Szubanski was originally due at 8:50pm next Tuesday.

The show was already on a very tight turnaround from its recordings, which started last week, to a Tuesday premiere.

A Nine spokesperson said, “Due to the tight production schedule Weakest Link will now launch at the end of May on Channel 9.”

Next Tuesday in its place Nine will screen a movie repeat, Welcome to the Jungle.

  1. Hmmm… is the ‘Wokest’ Link really being delayed by production delays, or is it because of all the controversy Madga has caused with her comments about Mrs Morrison and Nine are hoping people’ll forget about it by the end of May?

  2. I thought you needed a scary host for this show ? I saw a promo last night and Magda looked and sounded about as fearsome as a bowl of custard …I don’t think she will cut it to be honest and Nine are blaming the delay on BS ….

  3. Any news on the prize level. It seems an odd thing to commission- the only good thing about the US revival is Jane Lynch. Otherwise it has just been exposed as a rather weak format that got lucky.

  4. Are they waiting for the hand maids tale comments to die down? Also having it later after Lego would have given it a good lead in and possible good ratings.

          1. Pretty obvious everyone is over entertainers giving us their political views. just look at how awful the Academy Awards were and how they rated their lowest ever…. people watch tv to escape the world not get reminded how messed up it is. Leave the politics to the politicians, everyone is fed up!

          2. Micallef does those kinds of gags each week in Mad as Hell so personally I didn’t have an issue with it. We have a long history of political satire after all. I think that differs from an Oscars event. Ratings were done for a number of reasons. As far as I know Weakest Link won’t be focussed on political humour.

    1. It was bad judgement to make the comment about the PM’s wife but she admitted that she’d made a mistake. I just don’t see this show succeeding. I saw the promo last night and it has zero appeal for me.

  5. Instead of airing a movie from a decade or so ago, how about taking the opportunity to keep ‘Resident Alien’ in the same timeslot from week to week.

    Ahhh 9; Still The Worst.

      1. Why would they persist with Resident Alien when it was last in its timeslot last night?
        (see your wrapup)

It’s clearly not working – no matter what timeslot it’s given.

9: Wants to be Still The One – not the zero.

      1. It’s what’s coming up that would be concerning for Nine. Farmer Wants a Wife, Olympics, The Voice, SAS…. BB is the start of the swing
