Returning: Gogglebox

Updated: Season 14 of couch-watchers begins in early September.

Gogglebox will return to Lifestyle in just over 3 week’s time, and a chance to see how COVID is impacting in living rooms around the country.

Season 14 will debut at 7:30pm Wednesday September 8, but it isn’t clear how lockdown will affect production.

At present Sydney & Melbourne homes are banned from having visitors, except in a singles bubble.

Those rules will be particularly challenging for Matty, Sarah Marie & Jad (who once featured virtually), The Silbery family and Anastasia Katselas & Faye Kontos, but it also isn’t clear if they technically fall under a workplace environment, as TV production.

Updated:

Big changes are announced for the upcoming Gogglebox season, which producers note is in response to the pandemic.

Best mates and physiotherapists Adam and Symon return after exiting the series in S10. Both were due to present an AFL series for Foxtel, but it never occurred when the pandemic hit last year, while Adam recently got married.

“We’ve spent so much time on the couch in the last year, we thought it was only natural to come back to Gogglebox!” they said today.

Two Gogglebox families residing in Sydney’s hotspots, the Delpechitra and the Elias families, will sit out this season.

Sydney’s Sarah Marie, Matty and their almost two-year-old son Malik, will also zoom in with best mate Jad, and frontline worker / nurse Kaday will sit on her couch with best friend Chantel zooming in.

Melbourne’s Silbery family – mother and daughter, Emmie and Kerry will sit on their own couch in their own home for the first time, joined by Isabelle zooming in.

There are no changes announced for Mick and Di who just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, grandparents Lee and Keith, best friends Anastasia & Faye and The Daltons.

Also returning Melbourne brother and sister Tim and Leanne, and flatmates and Queenslanders Milo and Nic.

Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, said: “I think, more than ever, Australia is ready for a new season of Gogglebox. It’s the one show on television which pulls no punches and tells it like it is. As we all navigate our way through these challenging times, our wonderful Gogglebox households are bound to give us some television moments to remember.

“We are especially delighted to welcome back to the couch, Adam and Symon, cameo guests for the upcoming season. They are a fan favourite and are always welcome back to the series.”

Wednesdays at 7.30pm from September 8 on LifeStyle.
