Andrew O’Keefe pleads guilty to drug possession

Former host to plead not guilty on assault charges.

Former Chase host Andrew O’Keefe has pleaded guilty to drug possession today.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports O’Keefe, 50, appeared briefly via video link from isolation in custody as his lawyer, Arjun Chhabra, told Central Local Court his client would plead guilty to possessing 1.5 grams of cannabis on January 27 – but not guilty to all other charges.

Those charges include two counts of intentionally choking a person, three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

O’Keefe had been found with the drugs when he was arrested by police over an alleged assault on a woman on January 25, while he was on bail for breaching an AVO in a separate matter.

Police prosecutors also told the court O’Keefe was charged with a fresh offence on Friday of breaching an apprehended violence order made to protect a person who cannot legally be named.

O’Keefe will next apply for bail in the Supreme Court next week.
