Jacqui Felgate quits Seven News

Melbourne sports presenter departs Seven to focus on family and new opportunities.

Sports presenter Jacqui Felgate has quit the Seven, to focus on family and new opportunities.

Felgate has been with Seven Melbourne since 2012, presenting weekend sport since 2018 and has also presented afternoon bulletins, as well as Seven’s National Morning News and Melbourne Weekend News bulletin. She was previously at Nine News.

Felgate was the first female presenter for the Brownlow Medal, alongside Hamish McLachlan in 2020.

“I’ve had a wonderful time here at Seven. I’d really like to thank Lewis (Martin, general manager) and Shaun (Mengola, News Director) our bosses here. The last two years have been really tough. I’m looking forward to being a good mum to my kids,” she said last night.

More recently she presented the Quill Awards in Melbourne.

She told the Herald Sun, “I’ve got so many of those (MC gigs) coming up as well and I’ve really enjoyed it. All of that type of work allows you to be there to pick up the kids for the first time in my life.”

  1. If you watch the prime 7 bulletins from each of the 5 regions on YouTube or 7 plus you’ll see her get the flowers at the end on each of the 5 bulletins

  2. On Wednesday Elly wicks quit prime 7 , she got given flowers at the end of the bulletin too but since there’s about 5 different prime 7 bulletins she had to quit 5 times and get given he flowers 5 times which is kind of awkward lol

    1. I take issue with that assertion Vince. I don’t think Bec Maddern’s going to be scrambling to do the sport. She’s the second resignation from the 7News sports desk in less than a year. Not in anyway suggesting there’s something untoward going on at Docklands but they’ve lost a lot of great on-air talent — both sport and news — in the last 3 years.

    2. I agree Vince. Budgets in newsroom aren’t a bottomless pit. Although Jacqui might’ve seen an opportunity to leave knowing seven had another very competent female presenter to rely on – so she can leave and work hours more favourable for her and her family.
