Benji Marshall wins Celebrity Apprentice 2022

Former NRL champion takes home $487,000 for his charity after winning Nine reality series.

Former NRL champion Benji Marshall has won Celebrity Apprentice 2022.

He defeated runner-up Darren McMullen to take out the $100,000 prize with a final charity event showdown.

Marshall staged a concert with performers including The Wiggles, Isaiah Firebrace & Chris Sebastian at Leichhardt Oval to raise money for his chosen charity,  South Cares.

Despite a surprising decision to not charge for tickets but rely only on sponsorship, he still raised over $387,000, assisted by Bronte Campbell, Vince Colosimo and one half of Will & Woody. In another bold move Marshall even gave away merchandise and goods to kids attending the concert, even though he could have raised more cash to win the challenge.

In total he took home over $487,000 for South Cares.

“I’m so happy to have been able to raise such a great amount of money for Souths Cares. It will go a long way to supporting the youth and communities in Redfern and contributing to the outstanding work of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, which is something very close to my heart,” he said.

“This has been a life-changing experience, and Darren was a deserving finalist. Becoming very close friends, I’m glad he and I, as well as all the other celebrities, were able to do so much to support our chosen charities.”

Darren McMullen staged a Magic extravaganza at Cockatoo Island for his charity, Feel the Magic, a charity providing support and grief education programs for kids. Joined by Carla from Bankstown, he raised another impressive amount, $152,000.

Throughout the season, McMullen raised a record-breaking total of more than $552,000 for his charity.

The series however drew lower metro audiences for Nine than a 2021 season but in Total TV numbers was regularly above 700,000 viewers.

  1. Very happy that both Darren and Benji got in the final 2 because they were both great and I would’ve been happy if either of them won. Well done to Benji. And well done to Darren too.

  2. Both Benji & Darren were great & should be congratulated on monies raised for their respective charities.
Hope 9 has bigger plans for Darren.

  3. Not big on reality TV …I only watched because of local boy..
Benji is so much more than a footballer….Lovely young man….always has been ⭐👌

  4. This ended up being a pretty good season! Benji was a very well deserved winner and some insane amount of money was raised for charities, which is the best thing to come out of the series!

  5. Whilst I – and many others – have criticisms / apathy towards this being another ‘celebrity’ franchise, that is some seriously good cash that has been raised for charities from this season so full props to the show for that.

  6. I only watched bits of it because I think most of the boardroom you’re fired stuff is set up beforehand and I don’t like Lord Sugar who just seems to read everything he says. Why keep someone like Ronnie for so long, other than channel 9 seem to love him? I am very happy for both Benji and Darren but the one I will miss seeing the most is Nick, that man is gorgeous lol

  7. Congrats to Benji and the other contestants for raising money for their charities.
Wouldn’t it be good if the feel good element of raising money for charities was highlighted rather than the bullying and backstabbing as advertised on TV to promote the show!

  8. What a legend!! And not just a footy legend he is so much more than that now. Before watching Celebrity Apprentice I didn’t think much of Benji except that he was a good footy player, but after watching him in the last week of Celebrity Apprentice he is someone I look up to now. Thanks for keeping it real Benji, it was inspiring television and I’m pretty sure everyone wants to be your best mate now.
10/10 performance and a worthy winner!

  9. I really thought Benji had lost the plot when he started giving everything away for free, but looking at the selective crowd shots and editing I think there was only a very small crowd in attendance and one that certainly didn’t have thousands of cash on them to spend on merch. The game was won when the team were all on their phones securing sponsorships and naming rights.

  10. Good on Benji a very deserving winner. I would have been happy with either of them winning. I was so glad that nasty horrible Ronnie was finally fired before the finale. He should have been fired weeks ago. Worst celebrity apprentice contestant ever in the history of the show. Sugar should have called him out for his behaviour but he just let it go. But why did Benji have 4 former contestants while Darren only had 1? It wasn’t very fair.

    1. Bronte asked Vince if Darren had phoned him. He said yes and Bronte had received a call too. Maybe no one was willing to help Darren other than Carla. I agree with you about Ronnie. I hope that’s the last time he appears on tv.
