Nine yanks Under Investigation episode

Updated: Nine report on the cruise industry + covid was sunk late on Thursday arvo.

Nine had a programming backflip this week, with an episode of Under Investigation led by Liz Hayes.

The episode was confirmed on Wednesday to screen on Thursday.

Following this week’s Covid outbreak on the Coral Princess the special was set to report on “the dark side of the cruise industry and whether passenger ships should be sailing again.”

But it was yanked from the schedule late yesterday afternoon and RBT was returned to its previous timeslot.

It isn’t clear why the episode was pulled so late, but Media Watch has branded stories around the Coral Princess as a ‘beat up’ compared to 819 current outbreaks in aged care across Australia.

Updated: “We decided to hold it until the full season is ready to go which won’t be until later in the year,” said a Nine spokesperson.

  1. It’s since been removed from the 60 minutes YouTube page as well!
I have seen the episode, it was interesting. The advertised ‘Covid cruise’ thing wasn’t really the focus. More about policing and cruise lines ignoring crimes on board.

    1. Which is lifted from a story they did before. I’m sure it has nothing to do with all the paid spots in Today, Morning, Nine News and Current Affair plugging cruise lines.

      1. I would say they ripped it because the story fizzled out and as per Media Bites was overblown. Therefore a waste of an episode that must be for the next series of Under Investigation.
