Better Homes & Gardens: Sept 30

This week garden preparations, asparagus farming, and an inner city transformation.

This week on Better Homes & Gardens are garden preparations, asparagus farming, and an inner city transformation.

Johanna + Pete – Amazing Homes: Smash Repair House
Transformations don’t get starker than this. Johanna and Pete explore what was once a noisy, dirty and busy smash repair business, that has overtime been transformed into a light-filled, peaceful home. This amazing home is spread over three levels wrapped around a quiet courtyard, that elevates the living areas so they could get better use of the city views. The house now is introspective and calm – a big contrast to its history and its inner-city location.

Adam – Three Maintenance Jobs
While Spring is a time to get your garden ready for Summer, it’s also a great time to get your house ready too. So, Adam is tackling three common problems around the home and showing you the simplest solutions. Have you got a stuck sliding door, a toilet roll holder on a lean, and a leaking tap? They’re easier to fix than you think and while they maybe small jobs, the satisfaction you’ll get from doing them will be high.

Karen – Asian Inspired Croquettes With Sweet & Sour Sauce
So many cuisines have a version of the French croquette. Karen brings us her take on an Asian inspired croquette filled with chicken and potato. It’s super easy to make but might need a little help in the flavour department, so Karen shows you how to easily make a delicious sweet and sour sauce to really set these croquettes off.

Fast ed – asparagus farm walkaround +
Fast ed – smokey asparagus & egg salad with roasted leg lamb
A lot of people think the stars of spring might be flowers, but for Ed it’s asparagus. What better place to find the freshest asparagus than at the source? Ed chats to a third generation asparagus farmer and discovers the finer points of farming this delicious vegetable. But he couldn’t visit an asparagus farm and not cook with their fresh produce. So, he combines the asparagus with another spring special, roast lamb with smokey egg salad. This might be the most mouth-watering family dinner you’ll have had all year. But don’t forget, roast lamb leftovers make great toasties the day!

Graham – Caring For Citrus
Versatile fruits, evergreen foliage and scented flowers; citrus is a staple in the garden. But no matter if they’re sweet or sour – without the right care, they can be problematic. Graham will show you how to get the best from your plants this weekend, giving you great performing citrus all year round.

Charlie – Bang For Your Buck
If you’re looking for a way to make the most of your garden beds without spending loads of money, then Charlie has some timely advice for you. By just spending some time, but no money, he’ll show you how to split the plants you already have, so your garden is really giving you bang for your buck.

Melissa – Garden Prep For Warmer Months
The warm weather is just around the corner so now is the ideal time to get out into the garden this weekend and do some simple jobs that will benefit your garden through the warmer months. Since Spring is such a good time to get new plants into your garden, Melissa details all aspects of preparing your new plants to start a vibrant and healthy life; from how often to water to how the soil affects watering. Get out there and get prepped.

Daniella – Pretty Wild Kids Bedroom
It can be difficult updating your growing kids’ room. Transitioning from a cot to a big bed can be daunting for both you and your child. Daniella’s going to make this transition easier with a super fun jungle theme. This makeover isn’t just about some colour on the walls though. Fake plants, shelves, animal toys, tree stickers on the wall and even a jungle cubby house themed bed frame will really impress your child and make going to bed fun!

Dr Harry – Dumpling’s Story: Labrador Rescue
Who doesn’t love a Labrador! Tonight, we meet Ashleigh, an extraordinary volunteer with Labrador Rescue, who ensure surrendered, neglected and unwanted Labs get a second chance at life. And wait until you meet rescued Lab ‘Dumpling’. After being rescued and fostered, she found her forever home with Debbie and chocolate Lab, Bob. Due to health issues, Dumpling lost the use of her eyes, so Dr Harry’s going to help Debbie in making her home more accessible for her. But with Bob around, the seeing-eye dog has her own seeing eye dog!

7pm Friday on Seven / 7TWO.
