Returning: This is Your Life

Veteran soapie star is the next subject of Seven's nostalgic biography special.

Home & Away veteran star Ray Meagher is the subject of a new episode of This is Your Life, coming to Seven in October.

Studio guests include Kate Ritchie, Bec Hewitt, with video messages from Dannii Minogue, Julian McMahon, Chris Hemsworth, Ryan Kwanten and Stephen Peacocke.

Host Melissa Doyle surprises Ray with the iconic big red book on the set of Home and Away, before a night of laughs, tears, surprises and insights into a man who has touched the lives of so many across the years.

Summer Bay colleagues past and present – including Chris Hemsworth, Ryan Kwanten, Julian McMahon, Georgie Parker, Stephen Peacocke, James Stewart, Ada Nicodemou, Emily Symons, Dannii Minogue, Bec Hewitt and Judy Nunn – reveal the incredible impact Ray has had.

In a tearful reunion, Kate Ritchie describes how over her 20 years growing up on Home and Away, Ray became a true friend and helped shape her into the woman she is today.

Ray is also reunited with Home and Away’s original Fletcher family – Roger Oakley, Vanessa Downing, Sharyn Hodgson and Alex Papps – while stage and screen alumni Belinda Giblin, Paula Duncan and John Waters reveal never-before-heard stories about their friend and colleague.

The nostalgia continues as This Is Your Life delves into Ray’s career in film and theatre, revealing how he got his first big break playing the rear end of a horse. Ray’s secret sporting past is also explored, with appearances from rugby legends Nick-Farr Jones and John Eales.

In a heart-warming moment, Ray speaks candidly about growing up as an orphan before we meet his beloved surrogate mother Pat who helped raise him.

And speaking publicly for the first time are Ray’s wife Gilly and stepdaughter Rebecca, who share their stories about life with Ray away from the spotlight.

Don’t miss this celebration of an extraordinary actor, mentor, husband, friend and much-loved father figure.

This Is Your Life is an ITV Studios Australia production for the Seven Network.

7:30pm Tuesday 11 October on Seven.

  1. Showing my age here, my favourite This is Your Life was October 75? With the late and unfortunately largely forgotten Johnny O’Keefe who thought he was in channel 7 studios with the late great Mike Willesse to present an award. The surprise he got on the show was so fitting because he was the best when it came to TV shows featuring and promoting music in this country. One of brothers and I would travel 5hours from the central west NSW just to watch the live taping of Six O’Clock, then anticipating going to the record shop to buy the latest EPS to play when 2 more older brothers came home on leave from the army. We would clear the lounge and try to dance like they had on the show even my parents got in on act.
It was always kept as a surprise for the person they where doing the show on, I can’t understand why they reveal who it is now because it ruins the show totally. Why an employee of Seven surely there are others just as deserving.

  2. The great thing about the long running UK version was that the subject of the show was nearly always kept a secret which built suspense and audiences because of the desire to see which celebrity is being showcased.

In this instance of course it is just a long time Seven contract employee so they are hardly pushing the boat out looking for surprising or interesting contestants.

(I am prepared to be surprised by future episodes which me have cast a wider net.)

  3. Why would they say who it is before it airs to me that’s ridiculous would be good if the mention his guest appearances on prisoner all 3 of them were evil and he played them to perfection

  4. I wish 7 would leave an element of surprise and not announce the subject until on the night of airing, I think that’s how it used to be in the previous airings on 9?
