“These guys are obviously up to no good, couldn’t get out of here fast enough.”

Today show's Tim Davies spotted looters in homes affected by floods in Maribyrnong and has referred the matter to police.

Today show weather presenter Tim Davies told viewers this morning he believed he spotted looters in homes affected by floods in Maribyrnong.

He reported seeeing three males in a navy blue Ford Territory four-wheel drive who fled as soon as he arrived with an early morning film crew.

“I just knew straight away something wasn’t quite right with the guys. They had their faces covered with COVID masks and hoodies on and when we arrived with the crew,….these guys were in a hurry to get out of there. And I saw one of the guys fly out of the homes here – I don’t want to identify which one yet because we are in contact with police about what’s just happened – and these guys got out of here quick sticks because they knew we were media and we’re here to tell the story and we had cameras to show what’s happening at the moment,” he said.

“But these guys are obviously up to no good, couldn’t get out of here fast enough. Just a sickening sight to see people doing that sort of thing here in the streets of Melbourne early this morning with these residents already going through so much.

“As I said, we are in contact with Vic Police at the moment to give them all the details we can about what we have just witnessed here.”

Local resident ‘Darren’ told The Age he had about $15,000 worth of items stolen, including a laptop, ipads and e-bike.

“I can’t believe humanity can be so low,” he said. “They’ve kicked us when we’re already down.”

Police are now investigating the information they have received.

“We see the absolute best in behaviour across all of our Victorians,” State Control Centre, Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp said. “Sadly, we also see the absolute worst in behaviour. And I’ve seen this in a number of emergencies over many, many years.”

  1. There is just no accounting for some people. Heartless, no conscience and downright disrespectful to steal from their fellow humans. Completely unAustralian. Hope they get caught and pay by community service cleaning the very properties they stole from.

  2. There are some real low life’s out there. At least Tim Davies and crew did the right thing, contacted the Police and didn’t broadcast the alleged intruders details. Well done Weather team!
