George Calombaris in TV comeback

Former MasterChef judge hosts a new restaurant series on 10, alongside Sarah Todd.

Former MasterChef judge George Calombaris will make his TV comeback in a new restaurant series, Hungry screening next week on 10.

In the series, Calombaris explores favourite eateries in suburban Melbourne, to learning the inspiration behind some of Melbourne’s top restaurants. He is joined by former MasterChef contestant Sarah Todd.

Calombaris featured on MasterChef from 2009 – 2019 but drew headlines when MAdE Establishment Group admitted to underpaying $7.83 million in wages to its employees, which was later back-paid.

He also featured in The Masked Singer on 10 last year.

This is a gritty food journey that isn’t afraid to tap into the stories that matter. Hungry will show viewers how our diverse population innovates and ignites the culinary movement in Australia; it will tap into the nostalgia that makes soul food taste so good and it tackles how to solve food wastage issues through simple sustainability cooking hacks. The heat is turned up high, the flavours are zinging, and the stories are
unapologetically real.

6.30pm Saturday, 26 November on 10.

  1. Oh dreary! I would love to see a cooking show where the “cooks” actually do not skite how good their cooking is, but who wants to loose their credibility by admitting they buggered up a dish. None that I’ve seen.

  2. I like George, always have. He had business issues which he worked hard to resolve…nothing was intentional, he is not a criminal…I wish him all the best.

    1. Yeah I’m with you. He actually self-reported and did the right thing when it was brought to his attention unlike some other operators but boy did the public savage him regardless. And on MasterChef he so often reached out with genuine care to stressed contestants. I’d be happy to see him on TV again (just not on MKR which is still awful, despite Matt and Gary).
