Returning: Home & Away 2023

A Summer Bay cliffhanger is set to be resolved in early January on Seven.

Following a cliffhanger in the season finale of Home & Away, Seven is already teasing the show’s return in January.

In the first moments of the explosive return of Australia’s #1 drama, it becomes apparent to the waiting wedding party that something is wrong: Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) should be there by now.

Instead, the bride-to-be and bridesmaid Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) were last seen speeding towards danger in a wedding ute with tampered brakes, on a collision course with an unsuspecting Justin (James Stewart) and Leah (Ada Nicodemou).

When news of a horrific car crash surfaces, Tane (Ethan Browne) springs into action, with Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) and Gary (Peter Phelps) by his side.

But when the men arrive at the accident site, they soon come to the grim realisation that not everyone may make it out alive.

The fate of Dr Bree Cameron (Juliet Godwin) remains unknown after she was kidnapped and taken away from the Bay by her abusive husband, Jacob (Alex Williams). In Home and Away’s season return week, a distraught Remi (Adam Rowland) searches for the woman he loves. With no sign of her whereabouts or any leads, Remi begins to fear the worst. Will this blossoming romance end in tragedy?

Plus, don’t miss a new arrival set to shake things up when Home and Away returns to Channel 7 and 7plus for another massive year of drama in 2023.

7pm Monday, 9 January 2023.

  1. The finale was hardly a cliff hanger!

And I don’t have any high hopes they’ll be doing anything special for the 35th. Judging from previous anniversaries.

  2. I’m glad it’s coming back early it’s a summer style show too.
In regards to the finale, 7 should have played it out a bit more so we saw what happened instead of showing us what happens in the promo for next year. I get you need a cliffhanger, but that could have been when the car went up in flames and then we wait and see what happens to Felicity, it just felt like it needed more and should have been a part 1 and 2 over two nights.

    1. It wasn’t really a cliffhanger. I am guessing that the scenes of the car crash etc would be in the first half of the next episodes, so it would be pointless adding that episode to the season finale as there wouldn’t be a cliffhanger. During the last few months it seemed like some episodes were about to finish 5 minutes before it did, scenery is shown and then one or two more scenes were shown. I think there has been scene removed from the show this year, so everything was brought forward. So it would make it that the scenes that were supposed to be the cliffhanger were left until early in the first episode next year.

  3. David why is Home and away coming back so early in there, in previous years it doesn’t normally return to a least the end of January or the first or second week of February.

    1. I am guessing it is coming back early as the 35th birthday is on the 17th January. So they would want to get all the drama from around the finale / return done before they start their birthday storylines. Maybe the cricket will start after Home and Away or Home and Away will be on 7two.

  4. BBL12 will clash with HAA during the start of 2023. If it happens, then the first 30 mins of the BBL will have to be shown on 7mate before bumping to 7. However, WA will normally show the full BBL match on 7mate due to 3-hour time difference.
