Hit YA horror series Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, has been renewed for a second season by Netflix.

“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world,” said showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar in a statement. “Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

Since its November release the series starring has become Netflix’s third most-popular series of all time, behind only Stranger Things season four and Squid Game.

  1. The blurb seen in a newspaper article suggested that (Jenna Ortega) fans were getting a bit concerned about the delay renewing ”Wednesday” for season 2, but apart from legal copyright matters, which I believe Netflix were working on, there was no doubt that Wednesday would eventually be renewed. I’m sure that at least another two seasons will be contemplated as Netflix do need a headline promotion for its future streaming lineup after some notable recent disappointments and series conclusions in 2022. I would think they would want this show back by the years end, maybe just before Christmas.

  2. this is interesting … given the production studio that made Wednesday has been sold to Amazon, I am honestly surprised they didn’t pick it up for a second season.
