Renewed: Accused, Alert.

Two US dramas coming to Seven given second seasons.

US dramas Accused and Alert: Missing Persons, both of which will screen on Seven, have both been renewed for second seasons.

Accused, based on the UK series of the same name, chronicles ordinary people getting caught up in extraordinary situations, where one wrong turn leads to another until it is too late to turn back.

Accused has a different story, different actors every episode. You start with the verdict and then it’s going back (to ask), are they guilty or are they not?” Seven’s Brook Hall said.

“With Accused, Howard Gordon has taken the crime anthology to new heights and acclaim, featuring an all-star roster of directors and talent headlining gripping episodes that entertain viewers with a provocative, fresh take on many of the most relevant, timely issues of our day,” said FOX Entertainment’s president of scripted programming, Michael Thorn.

Alert, set in the Philadelphia Police Department’s missing person’s unit will also return.

“Scott, Dania, John and Jamie have done an incredible job launching Alert and bringing its story into heart-pounding focus, giving us an emotionally intense procedural drama that’s primed for even more success as Carla takes the day-to-day reins, continuing the great work we’ve seen this season.”

“We are excited to continue our long partnership with Fox to bring more Accused and Alert to audiences around the world,” said Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television. “It’s wonderful to see these timely, poignant stories resonating with viewers, and we want to congratulate the writers, producers, cast and crew on their success. We are incredibly proud of their collective work and look forward to seeing where these series go next!”

  1. Seven can’t even air the show’s they own the rights to air in Australia like 9-1-1 and The Rookie both shows have new episodes that have yet to air in Australia

  2. Gordon has taken crime anthology to new heights by buying a 13 year-old format from Jimmy McGovern apparently. The original is better and on Britbox. Alert: Missing Persons Unit is filmed in Montreal, which makes a change from Vancouver or Toronto.

  3. Just a very slight correction David – Alert: Missing Persons Unit is actually based on the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit, not the Los Angeles Police Department’s

    1. Fixed but seems to be conflicting info out there actually. “When police officer Nikki Parker’s son goes missing, she joins the LAPD’s Missing Person’s Unit to help other people find their loved ones, even as she searches for her own.” – Google Play.
