Stunt performer honoured with Equity Lifetime Achievement Award

Chris Anderson has contributed to more than 100 screen productions and spent 40 years mentoring & training countless stunt performers.

The Equity Foundation has announced Australian stunt performer Chris Anderson is the recipient of the 2023 Equity Lifetime Achievement Award.

He was nominated by many Australian performers, who described him as a “living legend” having “done more for the stunt industry than any other”.

One of Australia’s most experienced stunt performers and stunt coordinators, Anderson has contributed his talent and expertise to more than 100 screen productions.

Since his official grading as a stunt coordinator in 1982, he has spent the last 40 years mentoring and training countless stunt performers through all stages of their careers, with many now representing Australia on the global stage.

Equity president Jason Klarwein said,“Chris Anderson is renowned for generously sharing his knowledge, experience and time with the next generation of Australian stunt performers and stunt coordinators. Chris has worked consistently, diligently and modestly for the last four decades delivering visually spectacular screen stories, while keeping other performers and colleagues safe. Equity is so pleased to honour one of the world’s finest stunt performers with our Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a most deserving recipient.”

Anderson has been an Equity member since 1976, actively involved in MEAA’s National Stunt Committee and National Grading Committee for almost the entirety of his 40-year career.

“It’s an honour to receive this award from my peers, in an industry that is very dear to my heart and feel blessed to have been a part of all my adult life,” he said.

Anderson will be honoured at an awards ceremony in Sydney in May.
