A very Brady property sale

The renovated Brady Bunch home in Los Angeles is up for sale by HGTV.

America’s Brady Bunch house is on the market in Los Angeles for $5.5. million (AU$8.4m).

11222 Dilling Street Studio City was used as exterior shots for the iconic sitcom in its original run from 1969 – 1974, but was purchased from owners by HGTV in 2018 for a renovation series. A Very Brady Renovation featured six original cast members, Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Susan Olsen, Barry Williams, Christopher Knight and Mike Lookinland, renovating the interiors to match the on Paramount’s original Soundstage 5 sets.

The network spent $1.9 million to transform the house to resemble “4222 Clinton Way” even adding a second storey to the home originally built in 1959.

LA Times reports an online listing invites buyers to “own a piece of pop culture history,” and shows images of its detailed and polished 5,000-square-foot interior, which includes five bedrooms and bathrooms.

HGTV said the home will come with “many of its contents, including customized pieces such as the green floral living room couch and the credenza with a 3-D printed horse sculpture.”

Reportedly it is the 2nd most photographed home in the USA after the White House.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale will “help provide up to 250,000 meals for Turn Up! Fight Hunger.”

But remember if you become the lucky purchaser, mom always said, ‘Don’t play ball in the house!’

  1. I watched the renovation show on Foxtel Home and like a lot of tv shows not all is what it appears to be….they did similar with the house used on The Golden Girls, the exterior is a house in Brentwood California but appears on the show with the assortment of palms out the front as Miami Florida. The real house is 4 bedrooms built in 1955 and has a Japanese/Hawaiian themed decor…..the address of the bogus house was 6151 Richmond Street Miami…a non existent address…..the real house is at 245 N Saltair Avenue Brentwood…and was/is part of a guided tour of Hollywood California. It was sold to a family who were “not fans” of the show and admitted they never watched it, the architecture did the trick though and it sold for $4+ million several years ago.

    1. 5 seasons from Sep 26, 1969 through to Mar 8, 1974.

Since then there have been a number of “specials” from Dec 1988 -> Sept 2004 (not counting the reno show mentioned in this post).

        1. I included the movies in the “specials” but I must admit I didn’t include the X-Files episode from 2002 … that’s a bit obscure.

As a much younger self I watched “The Brady Bunch” most of time (it wasn’t on my must watch list).
