Airdate: Rush

Nine's next reality race, hosted by David Genat, to premiere in early July.

Nine’s new reality series Rush, is set to premiere in early July.

The series, developed and produced by Endemol Shine Australia, is hosted by David Genat (Australian Survivor).

It sees three teams of Aussies race around the world with one winner rewarded with $100,000 and two first-class, around-the-world airline tickets.

Each team will be dropped into the middle of cultural festivals and huge events in Brazil, Turkey, Jordan, India, Thailand, Ireland, France, Kenya and South Africa, and must be the first to get out and move on to the next destination.

They include Carnival in Rio, St Patrick’s Day in Dublin, the colourful Holi festival in India and the techno moshpit of Tomorrowland in France.

The intrepid travellers arrive at each new drop point deprived of sight and sound. Once their noise-cancelling headphones and blackout goggles are removed their first task is to find host, David Genat, waiting for them with mission instructions.

In each location, Genat will give them a series of tasks which they must complete, immersing themselves in the chaos of the local culture before locating an extraction point amid the mayhem and rushing to the Escape Zone. They might have to organise and win a soccer match with the locals in Rio, find and photograph the Stone of Sacrifice in Petra in Jordan, or bungee jump from the world’s highest bridge, Bloukrans Gorge in South Africa.

Sunday, July 2, at 7.00pm on Nine.

  1. So we have Rush, the TV cop show that screened on Ten from 2008. Nine have a channel called Rush, and now a show called Rush. You’d think that the creative teams are on strike with that confusion.

  2. TAR clone most likely be moved to its name sake 9Rush. Not sure why 7 and 9 are cloning so many different types of reality shows these days. Buy I’ll still watch it and see what it’s like.
