Sam Pang to host 63rd TV Week Logie Awards

“It’s a huge honour" says Front Bar and HYBPA? star Sam Pang as he becomes the first Logie host in 11 years.

As first tipped by TV Tonight, Sam Pang will host this year’s TV Week Logie Awards to be held on Sunday 30 July at The Star Sydney.

The Front Bar / Have You Been Paying Attention? star will be the first host of the TV Week Logie Awards in 11 years – one of many changes being introduced in 2023 under Seven’s ‘reimagining’ of the Logies.

Sam Pang said “It’s a huge honour to be asked to host the Logies and while it will be weird not having a buzzer or beer in front of me, hopefully I’m up to the challenge. I feel very lucky to be a part of this industry and can’t wait for July 30 in Sydney to celebrate Australian television on its night of nights and guide viewers at home through the entire four hour broadcast.”

Seven Network’s Chief Content Officer: Entertainment Programming, Angus Ross, said “Sam was on standby to accept an award for Kitty Flanagan at last year’s Logies and found himself up on stage and stole the entire show with his wry and witty asides. We are thrilled audiences will get even more of Sam Pang on Seven as he steers the ship across the whole night with his genuine affection for the industry, past and present, alongside his trademark humour.

Nominations will be announced Monday morning at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney at 7.00am.

Seven will broadcast the Logies Sunday 30 July from 7.00pm.

  1. A great choice. He’s funny but also quite professional so won’t use his hosting role to be hurtful to people or to preach as some have done before him.
I might even watch the Logies this year, now!

  2. Congratulations, as Bert Newton would say.”I like the boy.”
Hosting the Logies historically is a bit of a poison chalice for many so hopefully Sam doesn’t become the latest victim, only a few Logies hosts have been given the seal of approval after hosting.
    Go get em Sam.

  3. Sam Pang is 😆🤣😂 hilarious on HYBPA and Front Bar! Kochie for Gold! Will the nominations be included in next magazine? Do the public get to have any say? Being shown on Seven the special Kings of Comedy probably won’t be following it. Hopefully more focus from programs on networks other than 9.

    1. Sadly, the public don’t get a say in who gets nominated for the public awards. But we do get a say of who’ll win the awards once the nominations come out. This new system in voting started last year.

And no more Kings of Comedy? Bugger. That was a staple post Logies.

  4. It has taken 11 years for the Logies to find a host. And am glad they have chosen Sam Pang. His presenting/ comedy style is great.

I can’t wait for the team on Paying Attention and The Front Bar to “annoy” him about it too.

  5. We need a ‘Razzie’-type anti-award event in this country instead. There would be genuine competition for that considering the slew of garbage the networks are peddling recently.
