The Conners may end with S6 says John Goodman

“It’s lasted longer than I thought we would," admits Conners star John Goodman.

US sitcom The Conners, which has vanished from Australian screens, looks likely to end with its upcoming 6th season, according to star John Goodman.

Goodman recently headed up this year’s jury at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival.

“I think we may be coming to an end on it, I’m not sure,” Goodman has told France 24. “It’s lasted longer than I thought we would. It was just supposed to be like an eight [episode] show and out thing at one point, but they picked us up again, and they keep picking us up.”

Executive producer Bruce Helford recently told TVLine it could also end with a shorter sixth season.

“Sara Gilbert expressed to the network that we don’t want to go out without knowing that we are going out with a series finale so we can build to the right ending — and at this point in time, we feel that [next season] is possibly going to be the last season of The Conners,” Helford said. “I would not [say that] definitively because the numbers were so good this season, and we’ve all had a really great time… but it’s definitely a possibility.”

A sixth season was renewed in May.

Its broadcast in Australia continues to go wanting, with 10 Peach having screened Season 3 in mid 2021.

A 10 spokesperson told TV Tonight in late 2022, “The Conners is not planned to come back anytime soon.”

  1. They have done remarkably well without Roseanne. I hope she returns for the finale.

    1. You do realize her character is dead-RB was removed from the show for ‘personal differences’ by the producers.

      1. You’re referring to the racist tweets she sent targetting a former Obama administration employee, which were totally not ok.

        1. Dan died and came back didn’t he? There are dream sequences. I think she has paid the price through years of lost income
And banishment. She has apologised. In any
Rational persons objective mind the punishment has fit the crime.

    2. Considering that The Conners has essentially been a 6 year long spit in the face to Roseanne, that’s never going to happen, even if the producers (especially Gilbert) were to muster the audacity to propose an appearance. I can imagine them using an archival recording of Roseanne’s iconic laugh to close out the show, but then they would essentially have to pay her an “appearance fee” even if she doesn’t physically appear, and I doubt the producers (or Roseanne) would abide that either.

Roseanne already stated that she had no intention of ever watching the show shortly after her public tarring and feathering, though I commend her strength of character for even allowing the show to go on without her (and without any royalties paid). I wouldn’t have been quite so generous.

  2. Why can’t it just go straight to Paramount+ they’re not really losing anything, at least people can watch it.

  3. What is the possibility that another network or streaming service pick up it up and show it in Australia?
I assume it is unlikely after so many seasons being not shown
