Better Homes & Gardens: Aug 4

Johanna and Adam are in Ireland for the first of two episodes showcasing the Emerald isle.

This week on Better Homes & Gardens Johanna and Adam are in Ireland for the first of two episodes showcasing the Emerald isle.

Johanna + Adam – Republic Of Ireland Adventure
Strap on the backpack and join Johanna and Adam as they make the long trek to beautiful Ireland. They’ll explore all the history, culture, food and drink this amazing place has to offer. In Dublin and its surrounds, they’ll experience a very haunted castle and the highest pub in Ireland featuring traditional music and dancing. Getting out to the countryside though presents some more energetic activities, as Joh and Adam learn the art of sheep herding and the physicality of Ireland’s national sport, Hurling. Along the way Adam even learns how to make a hurling stick. It’s a grand adventure to be sure.

Fast Ed – Campfire Apple-Chocolate-Hazelnut Pie
Campfires don’t seem like the best place to make a pie, but Ed begs to differ. Not only is it easier than you might think, but the results are even more delicious than from an oven. While pies are synonymous with pastry, he’s using a surprise ingredient that makes it even easier to cook no matter where you are, even if you’re camping like Ed. Featuring fresh apples, hazelnut spread and chocolate to satisfy your sweet tooth, what’s not to love?

Charlie – Rugged + Raw: Phillip Johnson’s Strathbogie Garden Walkaround
When you describe a home as raw and rugged, it’s probably a euphemism for falling down. But as Charlie discovers, that’s the perfect epithet for a very special home and garden in country Victoria. Set on a hill in the Strathbogie ranges, the Philip Johnson designed garden evokes the spirit of the surrounding countryside, whilst making use of rugged native vegetation that are possibly the only plants hardy enough to withstand the wild weather. So, come take a look around a garden that seamlessly connects with nature while also elevating it to an art form.

Melissa – Your Lawn Can Be Lively
Spring is on the way, so now is the time to get that forgotten about Winter lawn prepped for entertaining. It may seem obvious, but the simplest way to a healthy lawn is by feeding it. Melissa will show you how to do this is in as little as ten minutes. But lawn doesn’t just have to be on the ground, Melissa’s also got a turf-tastic idea for a grass seat; the perfect spot to rest and admire the beautiful green lawn that will have your neighbours green with envy.

Juliet Pretty & Playful Bedroom
As your kids grow up, their tastes do too, so Juliet’s going to makeover the bedroom of a girl who’s now starting to know her own taste. Bedrooms aren’t just for sleeping, they’re also for dreaming, so to encourage her imagination Juliet’s giving this room a special paint design and creating a canopy over the bed. Along the way, there are tips for inexpensively upcycling existing items from the room and decorating to create the ultimate bedroom for a 6-year-old.

Dr Harry – Doggy Donors Save The Day
We all know the benefits of donating blood, but did you know your dog can donate too? Why? Well, dogs need blood transfusions too. But not every dog is eligible, so if you’re interested, Dr Harry and the team at Sydney University Veterinary Hospital will give you all the info you need.
