Renewed: Ultimate Classroom

10 partners again with the Australian Defence Force for more recruitment TV.

A second season of Ultimate Classroom, created and produced by Paramount ANZ’s in-house creative and production team, Imagine, in conjunction with Defence Force Recruiting, has been confirmed.

The branded content series hosted by Eddie Woo and Stephanie Bendixse screened on 10 Shake, testing 18 of Australia’s best and brightest high-school STEM students in order to become the Ultimate Classroom champion.

According to the Defence Force, a survey of 400 Gen Z viewers showed an increase in STEM knowledge of almost 30% following the programme.

Ultimate Classroom was DFR’s first use of a television program as part of recruitment.

DFR National Media Manager Jessica O’Mara said “Ultimate Classroom aims to attract prospective candidates to a STEM career, ultimately leading them to apply for a role within the ADF.

“The goal was to entertain and inspire our target audience through broadcast and digital channels, while shifting their perceptions of what a career in the ADF can offer.”

The show was also nominated for a Logie Award.

“Our program is unique in that it is the only show within the awards to showcase Defence capability,” Ms O’Mara said.

“I would see that as a win, even though we didn’t win the Logie.”

  1. … “Ultimate Classroom was DFR’s first use of a television program as part of recruitment” not quite, the DoD made programs with the ABC back in the 90s that were aimed at recruitment and they were part of the investigation into “backdoor sponsorship” that got David Hill and Paddy Conroy shown the door …

    1. And back in 2010 defence force recruiting was previously aligned with 10’s So You Think You Can Dance which featured dancers being put through the wringer with Navy trainers.

But it is a statement from DFR themselves so I presume they had different names or something back then.
