2024 Upfronts: what can we expect from SBS?

Where to next for SBS hit Alone Australia when SBS announces its 2024 slate on Tuesday?

SBS presents its 2024 Upfront to media at a luncheon event tomorrow in Sydney.

Public broadcasters always have very lengthy lists of content, due largely to shorter seasons, and SBS has more multichannels then others.

Expect lots of success around Alone Australia and undoubtedly a second season (in New Zealand perhaps?), and more on upcoming drama Swift Street described as an ‘Afro-Punk heist drama.’

We could be in for details around The Idea of Australia which asks Australians to understand where the nation has come from and challenges what we might become, Australia’s changing attitudes and approaches to death in The Last Goodbye, and feature length doco on Climate Change, The C Word. And both SBS on Demand and NITV are rumoured to be making new announcements..

There’s no word yet if Australia is locked in for Eurovision in Malmo, lots of fingers crossed on that front.

There are also several ongoing initiatives, listed below, which may result in 2024 titles.

You can follow live posts early tomorrow afternoon here.
