Better Homes & Gardens: Nov 3

When Laura's chickens refuse to lay, can Dr Harry help them produce eggs?

This week on Better Homes & Gardens Dr. Harry visits a troubled chicken coop, Graham is in The Blue Mountains and Joh & Pete find a city retreat.

Johanna + Pete – Amazing Home: Secluded Retreat
When you live in the hustle and bustle of a big city, sometimes you need somewhere to escape to. Well, Joh and Pete explore an urban oasis of a home that is that somewhere. With rounded edges, natural materials, and a muted palette, it features all the things we love in design at the moment, but it’s the flipped layout that really helps it make use of space. While this place exudes a sense of calm, it has a wow-factor that has to be seen to be believed!

31-427 Johanna – Mod Cons For Your Motor
Cars are now so high-tech they’re like something out of a science fiction movie. And as cars change so do the reasons for buying them. It’s less about the colour and more about what it can do off road, in the driveway or at the traffic lights. Tonight, Johanna investigates all the technology and features that are just as important when you’re moving as they are when you’re stopped.

Juliet + Adam – Build & Style A House In A Day
Can Adam and Juliet do the impossible by building and styling an entire house in one day? A mid-century modern look with open plan living downstairs, a bedroom with an ensuite upstairs, and a height of just under one metre, this house will be a real stunner. That’s right, at just under a metre tall, Adam’s building a high-end doll’s house. But, like any full-sized house, it needs some decoration and who better to do that than our own style guru, Juliet. Flooring, on-trend wallpaper and even fixtures and fittings. Despite being built for dolls, this house will want for nothing being built and decorated… with style.

Fast Ed – Sticky Fingers (Picnic Food)
The sun is out, the temperature is rising, it’s a great time to get outside and have a picnic. Sandwiches are staple of the picnic lunch, but if you really want to wow your guests, Ed has reinvented the classic chicken toastie. If you’re not as adventurous as Ed, you can do as little cooking at the picnic as you like and prepare them all at home. But, with a honey soy glaze, you’ve got something that’s new, delicious and really easy.

Fast Ed – Apple, Raspberry & White Chocolate Crumble + Mango
If you’re a fan of apples, raspberries, chocolate and cake then, boy, does Ed have the perfect dessert for you! It’s not a healthy dessert, but that’s OK, sometimes you just need to indulge. Ed’s recipe is super simple and being a crumble, it doesn’t have to look perfect. The only hard part is waiting for it to cool before you eat it!

Fast Ed – Mango Cup Salad
Mangoes are so delicious you’d be crazy to waste a single bite, so Ed’s going to show you how make use of every part of this summer fruit. Firstly, you’ll scoop out the flesh to go in a fresh salad, but then the skin is used as the bowl for each portion of salad. It’s the stylish result every summer dinner party needs.

Graham – The Braes Garden Walkaround
The Blue Mountains is known for natural beauty, but right in the heart of the area is The Braes Garden, known for its man-made beauty. Tonight, Graham tours around this lovingly restored, European-style cool-climate garden, featuring dry-stone walling, over 200 varieties of trees, shrubs and perennials and even a Monet bridge. With plenty of vistas and many garden rooms connected by paths and bridges that guide you on your journey, there is something beautiful and unexpected at every turn.

Charlie – Don’t Be Shallow
If you live somewhere with shallow soil depth, you’ll know how difficult it can be creating garden beds that allow your plants to flourish. Charlie is going to take you down the rabbit hole of small to medium options of what to do when faced with this very problem. He’ll touch on plants that thrive in these conditions and show you a few tips and tricks on how to create soil depth, even when you thought it wasn’t possible.

Dr Harry – Lots Of Chooks, Not Enough Eggs
With a sparkly new chicken coop full of happy, healthy hens and three young boys who love eggs for breakfast, you’d think that eggs would be plentiful at Laura’s place. But unfortunately, her much loved glamour hens are not producing the goods and Laura is at a loss to know why. From some eggs to not many eggs… Can Dr Harry help these healthy hens to lay?

Friday 7pm on Seven / 7TWO.
