Sam Mac takes paternity leave from Sunrise

“It’s my turn to be getting Margot up, feed her and basically becoming her personal assistant / servant," says young dad Sam Mac.

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac is taking some much needed paternity leave from the Seven breakfast show, well deserved given the role requires endless flights across the country.

He and partner Rebecca James welcomed baby Margot over a year ago.

“It’s my turn to be getting Margot up, feed her and basically becoming her personal assistant / servant,” he told the Courier Mail.

“She’s walking now, which is awesome but it’s a bit daunting because we have to childproof the house … but really exciting times.

“Margot’s changed so much even in the past couple of months. So it’s super-exciting to have some proper quality time with her.”

Katie Brown will fill in during his leave.

  1. I really like Sam. Very smart and funny man I think. Goes a bit overboard every now and again but that’s who he is. I will miss him in the mornings. Wishing it was James moving over to the week days gig. He is a delight.

    1. +1. James Tobin is relaxed, entertaining and has an innate ability to get on with other presenters. When Larry Emdur is filming The Chase, I would much rather James occupying the chair than Matt Doran.
