Better Homes & Gardens: Feb 16

In Part 2 of their Asian cruise, Adam & Melissa visit Nha Trang & Ho Chi Minh City.

This week on Better Homes & Gardens, Adam & Melissa visit Nha Trang & Ho Chi Minh City and gardening, Mexican style.

Adam + Melissa – NCL Asia Cruise: Vietnam + Norwegian Jewel
Adam and Melissa’s stunning tour of Asia continues into Vietnam. Not far from the spectacular beaches and cultural sights of Nha Trang they’ll experience Vietnamese rural life, travelling through rice paddies and meeting local villagers and skilled artisans along the way. From the beaches and village life to the cacophonous craziness that is Ho Chi Minh city, Adam and Melissa navigate a sea of motorbikes where they explore bustling markets, taste the amazing street food and whizz past old Saigon’s historical sights. But it’s not just the different countries Adam and Melissa stop at that need to be explored. The cruise ship is an adventure unto itself, with bars, restaurants, sporting activities and even a huge theatre. And our intrepid duo will do their best to experience all of it!

Johanna + Pete – Amazing Home: Changing Up Tradition
Inner city living means high density and utilising space with clever design ideas is nonnegotiable. And that’s just what the owners of this Victorian-era terrace have done. Despite building over the backyard area, they created a tiered “falling gardens” design giving each level access to its own outdoor space. The classic façade was kept intact to give the home character, but once inside, it opens up into a modern marvel. Joh and Pete discover how this once run-down house integrates past and present and focuses on engaging the landscape to create a truly spectacular home!

Colin – Chicken Schnitzel & Slaw
The chicken schnitty is an Australian pub classic. Not all Schnitty’s are made equal though, so Colin’s going to show you how to make one that will beat anything you’ve eaten before. The perfect schnitzel requires the perfect accompaniment and for Colin, that means coleslaw. Adding a few fancy vegetables to go with coleslaw staples give it a real zing, but combined with a bread crumb that includes some controversial ingredients are what really make this the best schnitty ever.

Graham – Uralla Garden Walkaround
If you’ve dedicated your life to gardening, you’ve probably learned a thing or two. And so it goes for Pamela, who has created her third dream garden on the outskirts of Sydney. Graham explores this colourful and joyous garden that was inspired by her travels. Utilising her natural flair for combining florals and foliage, the garden mixes the formality of topiary with the curated craziness of playful flowers, big wide garden beds that pack in maximum punch with Pamela’s favourite flowers. Join Graham on a journey through a delightful garden that won’t fail to wow you.

Charlie – Going Loco (Mexican)
You may have a backyard, but that doesn’t mean it’s the conventional square patch of lawn with surrounding garden beds. Tonight, Charlie’s working on a very unconventional patch of land which requires him to work with it, not against it. For this particular sun-drenched space, that means plants that can withstand Australia’s heat, like Mexico’s cacti and agave. To complement these, Charlie’s planting a riot of colour to really brighten it up. After a hard day’s work and some propagating tips, it’s time to relax with a drink, and with all those cacti around, what else but something refreshing from Mexico.

Juliet – Styling Eco Elegance
The beginning of a new year is an opportune time to not just refresh ourselves, but our homes as well. Juliet is going to show you how to take the tired and dated parts of your home and give them an injection of freshness, calmness and positivity into a beautifully timeless space. Eco Elegance is about pairing things back and using natural materials, neutral colours and soft tones. With a fun and budget friendly upcycle project, this renewal will invigorate you too.

Dr Harry – Cocker Spaniel Swims Off
When you have a dog that loves to swim, and you live just 3 minutes from the beach you would think it is a match made in heaven. But as Dr Harry discovers with Indy the Cocker Spaniel, this is only the case if your dog actually swims back to you! So, he’s going to have to teach this water-loving dog to come back when called or next time he goes for a swim, he might hit New Zealand!

7pm Friday on Seven.
