Nurse Jackie sequel in the pipeline

10 years after last seen on screen, Edie Falco could return to her pill-popping Nurse Jackie.

A Nurse Jackie sequel is in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with star Edie Falco set to reprise her role as drug-addicted emergency department nurse.

Nurse Jackie ran for 7 seasons from 2009 – 2015 featuring Falco, Eve Best, Merritt Wever, Haaz Sleiman, Paul Schulze and Peter Facinelli. It was critically acclaimed and won 5 Emmy Awards.

The logline for the new series states, “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet in spite of having lost her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas in trying to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”

Original series writers-producers Liz Flahive and Abe Sylvia will serve as writers and executive producers. Falco also will also executive produce along with former Showtime chief Bob Greenblatt.
