Zak steals the show at Colin from Accounts premiere

While the cast walked the yellow carpet, it was a four-legged star who melted everybody's hearts at Colin from Accounts premiere.

Comedy stars and creators Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer walked the yellow carpet at Sydney’s Factory Theatre last night for the world premiere of Colin from Accounts.

They were joined by the cast members Helen Thomson, Emma Harvie, Tai Hara, Michael Logo, Genevieve Hegney, Annie Maynard, John Howard, and Justin Rosniak -but it was hairy Zak, aka ‘Colin’ who stole the show.

His trainer from Kirsko Film Animals ensured he was a crowd pleaser and the star attraction, winning over an easily-jaded paparazzi pack and attracting all the right “oohs” and “ahhs” when he took to the stage upstaging the cast Q+A hosted by Binge’s Alison Hurbert-Burns.

Even uber-talented Harriet Dyer knew there was no competing.

“There’s an animal here now, so get your phones out,” she told the audience.

Zak is one of two pooches featured in the series.

“This iz Zak, he does 90%. He does most of it. Buster is slightly sexier.

“But Zak has never messed up a shot. Ever. Seriously, isn’t that insane?”

“Whereas Harriet will mess up everything,” quipped Patrick Brammall.

This season sees guest cast Celeste Barber, Virginia Gay, Justin Rosniak, John Howard, Lynne Porteus and Broden Kelly.

At last night’s premiere, the crowd was rapturous in its reception.

“It’s just unbelievable to share this with everybody. It feels very much like our little show that we made. And we occasionally get moments like this,” said Brammall.

“It’s so nice to see it with so many people who care about the show. There’s so many of our crew, here so many of our heads department, like Dan who edited the shit out of this episode,” Dyer added.

Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany, who kicked off the night, was also full of enthusiasm.

“Comedies don’t come easy in this country. And we at the Foxtel Group and Binge are just so proud, we got one of ’em!

Colin from Accounts is the number one drama ever on Foxtel and Binge.

Colin from Accounts has won 4 Logies and one AACTA. Colin from Accounts on behalf of the producers is sold in 100 countries around the world. These Comedy Dramas don’t come along often and we’ve got one of ’em!”

Screens weekly from Thursday May 30 on Binge / 8:3pm on Showcase.

  1. @Bogues

I think the reason for the 1 ep per week for 8 weeks is that they want people to subscribe for 2 months to binge, rather than having the whole 8 all in one go and then losing viewers. Some people will prob wait 2 months and then sub to Binge for shows like Colin.

  2. Season One was great. And has become a huge succession And rightly so.

I watched the first episode of season two. And it was hilarious. I can’t wait to watch the rest of this season.

Shows that there is great local scripted content out there.

  3. I do wonder why Binge are releasing one episode a week. At 26 minutes for ep 1, I’d be doing double eps a week, or even drop the whole lot at once.
