Bumped: Ready Steady Cook

Two timeslot changes for cooking contest are likely to put a renewal as a very long shot for Miguel Maestre series.

Admtitedly this one is a little late, but readers have been asking about Ready Steady Cook, which has been bumped not once, but twice, by 10.

The Miguel Maestre-hosted series was quietly moved to 6:30pm Saturdays when a Matildas match screened on a Friday night, before another bump to 4pm Saturdays as of last weekend.

That’s particularly disappointing when there is a Dog House repeat at 6:30pm (and branded content for a bank at 6pm). Friday nights is a Paying Attention? repeat.

The chances for a renewal are likely diminishing with every slice by Teams Capsicum and Tomato.

10 also hasn’t sent any programming amendment for this one, hopefully an oversight, and not to avoid a post like this one. Maybe they well remember RSC holds the record for TVT comments (twice!).

  1. There is no conversation he just says OMG, laughs at his own jokes, and dresses like Don Johnson. The Producers should have slowed him down and controlled the narrative more, it lacked warmth and flow, or maybe they just couldn’t control him.

  2. The show is as good as ready, steady, axed at this point. And I can’t see Ten moving the show back to daytime when they can fill the schedule with “encores” from last night and cheap repeats of axed US shows like Phil and Judge Judy.

  3. David,
You mention RSC holding the record for TVC (‘comments’) and this thread sets another:
5 posts up so far and no mention of ‘bring back Peter Everet!’ – so far…

  4. I had doubts about this show going well in primetime, even on a Friday, as it feels more suited to a daytime slot like the original. I tried watching the first episode, but Miguel was too loud and spoke so quickly that I could barely understand him. While I understand the attempt to create a lively atmosphere, it would be better if they toned it down a notch.

    1. I feel the same….in fact everyone tends to be a bit OTT…..I preferred the old format….calmer and more about the cooking with some giggles…not so many crazy hi jinks.

  5. Planned on watching this show just for some light entertainment, never expecting Miguel to educate me on crumbing food by using tongs. One of the best cooking tips I’ve received this year. Clean hands! Thanks Miguel
